Triethanolamine (TEA) Danger

Triethanolamine (TEA) is extremely unhealthy but is a common ingredient in many products like lotion, toothpaste, shampoo, sunscreen etc. TEA is used to moderate pH levels to control the viscosity of gelling agents.

This chemical is a total body allergen that can cause anything from skin irritation to major organ damage. Though approved by the FDA as completely safe, it is extremely harmful to you. To put it in perspective, even water is required on the list of ingredients in a product but TEA is not. Just because it’s not listed doesn’t mean it’s not included, it’s just considered “Safe”.

Be sure to only use products that do not contain TEA or other toxic chemicals. Most people focus on avoiding BPA but TEA is a much, much worse threat to your health. Know what’s in your products!
